I was inspired by the archways and intricate windows of traditional Iranian architecture. This winter, I saw The Shapes of Birds exhibit at the Newport Art Museum, and was really inspired by the work I saw there, especially the images of large, and sometimes abandoned, old buildings. I wanted to evoke that peace and solitude, but in a more inviting, free-spirited sort of way. I got stuck with this painting, and it remains unfinished, but it was a good experience nonetheless!
