This painting is about both the sweetly endearing, but also the burden-filled moment when you hear the words, “Wait for me” from a romantic partner. I use dark purples and cranberry colors to make melting shadows along the walls and across the bed. The deep hues lend themselves to a sense of rest, or sense of dormancy. Like the passive, sometimes suspenseful act of waiting for a significant other to come back into your daily life. But there is good faith. The windows are bright from light beyond them, and it filters into the room.
